My name is Jason, I live near Berkeley and I'm 22 years of age.

After seeing the pics of my buddy Spiggy in action at Camp Roberts, I instantly gained an interest and was sent here. Thanks Spiggy.

I'm interested in reenacting either German or US forces, though I have no experience. I do have experience in shooting (competitively with the M1 Garand at 200 yards - NRA approved match using reduced targets).

I'm hearing impaired (wear hearing aids), would that affect the reenacting? I could take 'em out, and hear/identify sounds, though voices would be (for the most part) unintelligible. Would this be a problem?

Thanks,

Jason

Thanks. I'm looking forward to it!

Do any of the members here do any other types of reenacting?

Actually being a little hearing impaired may be helpful. We all wear earplugs during the reenactments due to the loud sound from the rifle fire of our weapons. I guess with your hearing aids you can turn down the sound during the actual battles and turn them back up during lunch, and or adjust them. I know when I've got my earplugs in I can hear talking, but I need to be real close to get the real message

There are several guys in our unit who do a German Impression when there is no Americans schedule for the Battle. That is they do a German Impression at reenactment battles for Germans vs. Russians. But at reenactments which are American Soldier base they would not do a German impression

There are some people and some units, who have members who do all sorts of impression, plus do civil war, korean, vietnam, and a whole bunch more that you have probably never heard of. In our unit we try to get people focus on one main impression World World II American Solidier, first before venturing off into more and more and more impressions.

To date I do Russian, Japanese, Fallschirmjager. I also have an Italian impression, working on early war French and now just to be different I'm breaking the mold and doing Vietnam as NVA.

Of course, the 442nd is my primary impression. I will ALWAYS do that one first. Japanese comes second. After that I just have fun with it.

And now I've started Airsofting. I'm sick I tell you! [smilie=rlp_smilie_207.gif]

So Jason, you think you want to try joining us?

Speaking of which... I need my pictures! I've had a great b-day, recovered from my stomach flu, bought a PC Game with the $$$$< had a steak dinner with the family (complete with the corn pone) and now me and my dad are relishing the warm sake in our bellies and hearts and finishing them off with steins of Dortmunder Actien Brauirie Beer.

Btw Jason... welcome to the 442nd/133rd!

I'm the resident 21 year old GI-rene. There's other active Marines in the hobby, but I"m the original GI-rene!

Yes, I'd very much like to.

I've got the Garand (I don't have to modify it right? I'd still like to use it for competitions...) just need to get the uniform. I also have a K98.

I've been browsing over at At The Front Miltaria and am considering the package deal of the WWII Infantry Impression. $ 500 is not too bad, I expected upwards of $1,000 (like the German Heer outfit ).

Is there anything else I should be keeping an eye out for?

Thanks fellas!

A BFA (Blank Firing Adapter) is what you'll need to fire blanks.

"Pops" makes the best a simple guy that just swaps out the gas plug on the end, though I found it does extend the barrel up a bit which makes some bayonets not go on (but you won't ever need to fix bayonets in a tactical)...

Pops506th@yahoo.com

Keep your old gas plug and you can swap it back out for live fire. And Mike knows the proper size restrictor you should use in it.

also try ebay depending on your sizes you can pick up an entire kit for $300 or less (ebay takes time)
"i have 3 different unifoms (yeah paratrooper sucks) and ive payed about $500 for all 3"

Uniform depending on size $100

for webing about $100 or less

and boots around $100+ or - depeding on foot size

hope this helps

Paratrooper does not suck. It's just slightly different. Our leader Tim used to be an 82nd Airborne reenactor a long time ago. I would not mind doing Airborne if I had not joined this unit. We shared a barracks with the 101st guys this last weekend. They were friendly and we enjoyed meeting them. No one here has a problem with any other groups. 8)
