Achtung Panzer!

Postby davep on Sat Aug 16, 2008 11:23 pm

Exciting News!

Many of you are aware of the German unit in Colorado which has recently completed thier Panzer III. Some of us battled some of these guys last Feburary in the snow in Arizona.

Well Steve has been working closely with other units in both the RPS but nearby states in inviting them to November Camp Roberts Battle. Well he has succeeded in getting the Panzer to come out this next CHG-Camp Roberts Battle. They are also bring out thier Halftrack as well.

The Germans all together will have a Hetzer and a Panzer III, plus (4) Halftracks!

There is also the possible of yet two more German Halftracks coming, which would bring the total to SIX !

But this is not all Steve is hoping to get a professional movie outfit to film the battle. He has been working for several months trying to make Camp Roberts the largest event in the United States, not only in size but quality of the event.

In the shop...

Nothing to worry about fellas. That puppy is only packing a high velocity 50mm gun. It'd have to get damn close to punch a hole in a Sherman and its HE load is practically non-existant but if we get the bazooka out of the shop, it'll punch a hole through that thin armor easier than a GI's chance of getting VD.

There is news, that an out of state Allied Group is expressing interest in bringing their M10 Tank Destroyer to the "November West Coast Regional" event. It may be the folks from Arizona.

Any pics of the Wolverine? Those are both of the Hellcat. Both are very interesting vehicles but I fear with re-enactor safety rules their prime defense, speed, is useless.

I thought I read about the M10. I think the issue/confusion is both the M10 and M18 are both referred to as "tank destroyers". And when is comes to "tank destroyers" the M10 is what people are more familar with, so the name "tank destoryer" get associated with the M10. The one that WW2 Group that is considering going to the November Battle is a M10

The question is who has the M10 and where are they coming from?

Thats an upgunned M10 but an M10 nonetheless. I personally think of Hellcats, everyone with a bit of AFV knowledge can remember about the fastest "heavy" (not a light tank) AFV of the war.

As for who has it... Who knows.

There is a little confusion on what may be coming out to the November Roberts, battle, it may be actually a M18 instead of the M10.

UPDATE: The tank is the M18 Hellcat that is possibly coming out from New Mexico
