Battle information

Normandy to St Lo - July 1944

That is what they are suggesting. That is also a pain in the rear end and would delay us getting our encampment set up. After driving 6 hours to get there, I am not waiting to unload my stuff into someone elses vehicle so I can unload it again and set everything up. Can you see how absurd that is?

I would say we should be allowed to drive up to the camps on Friday and shuttle people in on Saturday.

i agree with Tim and Mayo, we should not do double duty unless we show up on saturday when the event acually starts. Once we unload at the campsite, then we can move all POV's from the area and use our MV's to help out when ever possible. Can you imagine the waiting line to haul gear in and out?

I think the "theme" of the request is to have people in and out quickly, and not have a lot of vehicles sitting in the "period camps", drive in drop your loads and move out. Obviously the larger payload deliveries are warrented. I think what they don't want is a bunch of single person vehicles crowding the encampments and the encampment area "road". The idea is to get in drop your load and get out. Take care of business, and move your vehicle. With a lot of people, there will be the tendency for some to drive in, and BS with their friends for ten minutes and then slowly start to unload.

I also think this is an issue with the later in the day arrivals.

Sleeping in the Pyramid tent:

1. Mayo
2. Tim
3. Mex Bob
4. Dave P
5. Fernie
6. Sam
7. Japanese Reenactor #1
8. Japanese Reenactor #2

*****All others must bring puptents******
I have two puptents for loan. Anyone else with puptents for loan post it here. Two men can stay in each puptent.
Puptent #1 Jason Kaplan

CHOW

Breakfast for Saturday will be Spam and Eggs
Breakfast for Sunday will be Corned Beef Hash and Eggs
Dinner Friday will be pork and beans again (I have one remaining huge can of this glorious concoction, yum).
Lunch on Saturday and Sunday will be cold field rations that you bring for yourself.
Fernie will provide a Saturday dinner of chicken stew
You each need to bring:
1 can of Spam (lite if possible)
2 can of veggies (corn or carrots)
4 Eggs

***I already have enough corned beef hash***
Can someone bring cornbread? Volunteers?

Like last event, please make sure you bring water in those large bottles we can put in the water cooler. I will bring washing water in two or three Jerry cans.
Someone bring paper towels. I will bring trash bags and the collapsable can. Bring your own toilet paper. There are supposed to be portable Privys. Everyone bring their e-tool for fire fighting if needed, and for cat holes in case you are in the field and have to do that emergency toilet adventure. We usually get to stay in the barracks, but this will still be fun. We will not spend as much money on chow in town due to the controlled eating at our encampment. We will not be going into town so Class A uniforms are not needed. Also, once we get into uniform, let's stay in the 1940's until we are ready to leave. No talk about modern stuff until we are packing up to leave.

This is the layout of places for the upcoming event

Image

Non Period Camp and Parking will be in quadrant - A2
Registration is at the crossroads leading into the battlefield area will be at A3
Morning Line up will be at crossroads at the bottom of quadrant - B4
The tactical battle will occur in columns 3 thru 8

The period camps will be disclosed at the time we arrive and their location is a small part of the weekends senario.

For point of reference the March Camp Roberts battle we were at E3, E4, and E5 , the November 2007 battle we were at C2, C3, C4, and D2

There are going to be maps made for the various sides, one for the Germans and one for the Allies.

The black bar at the bottom is the outter boundary area.

Considering my only time in this area was in April 07. Is this battle the same area as then? The big hills and such?

Should be some fun vehicle country.

Me and Lillian Mae are ready for some heavy duty action. Randy has a special spot in the back of "Love 7", also known as jeep #2. [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]
Also, I will be bringing my pup tent for those of you that do not have one.

There will be a target rich enviroment so we will need all the boo koo ammo we can haul and deliver it to the krauts in copious amounts! [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

You know what works and is cheap? Those pool floats. But I would suggest that you try someplace that sells hiking gear first.
