I got a free M43 jacket today

Postby TaishoCat on Mon Jul 28, 2008 1:08 am

One of my short adventures in Tokyo...could of put this on the canteen section, but oh well.

I was at Nakata Shoten, a surplus vendor here that sells militaria of all sorts and also quite famous for being one of the few that sells high quality reproduction Imperial Japanese militaria. I wanted to talk to the store owner to say hi (Since my mom`s friend`s husband co owns Nakata as an investor and he wrote me a card to give me a discount on the store and said i should talk to him before making deals). So anyway, he came down and I asked where the IJA stuff was. He said that the Japanese militaria store is closed today and it would open on Tuesday. That made this Taisho very sad (yea, third person) He actually felt sorry for me so what he did was, I can get one free item in the store for being here to buy his stuff (Plus the fact that I know the family who partially owns Nakata). So I walked around and found an M43 repro jacket and picked that. He bagged it up and gave it to me. He said he will show me the location of the IJA store tomorrow when i arrive back to the store since I didn't recall where it was previously.

I could of discussed this with some members in the unit if this article of clothing is accurate to the real thing and not some post war thing, but it was a last minute notice that i got this...Also,does anyone here know anything about a militaria vendor with the name of "Sessler"? Its just like another maker like ATF, WPG and WW2 impressions...I looked it up on Google but no luck

It does look pretty good. No zippers right?

Back in the day the best reproductions came out of Japan but as with everything things change. Now China has been overpowering the market with reproductions killing most of the competition as they can put out high quality reproductions at a cheap price. Many of the Chinese vendors use that as a strategy selling cheap till the competition falls away then jack the prices.

The food here is pretty good, but it makes me wanna eat more, thus making me sick. The only thing Im not touching is the canned whale, whale meat and dried whale skin that my family likes...

Yeah, I would probably be alot more adventurous in my eating tastes if my dad hadn't flashed all kinds of food that looked back at you in front of our faces and said, "want some?". Dad thought it was hilarious. Laugh it up pop... [smilie=a_madtongue.gif]
