You will need leggings:
M-1938 Leggings, Dismounted sizes run as follows:
Calf sizes
1R = 14"
2R = 16"
3R = 18"
4R = 20"
5R = 22"
Once you determine the correct size, look on e-bay for them. If you need help, tell me what size you wear and I will find them for you.

On weapons, M1 Garand is the way to go.

Blanks for the M1 Garand and Carbine:
http://www.joeswansonsmotionpictureblanks.com/

You can buy a blank adaptor and not alter the weapon. The best adaptors are:
1. "Pops" from 101st AB makes these. They are awesome.

Scott Pitts
621 Grace Way,
Scotts Valley, CA 95066
Pops506th@yahoo.com
last known price is $75
He takes Paypal

2. Bill Guiette one is also a great one but $25 more expensive and doesn't look as nice.

http://www.guiettemfg.com/catalog.html

$100.

3. GI one that you have to keep tight, can be potentially unsafe with some blanks, and does not look very good:
http://www.iar-arms.com/blankammo-real-guns.htm

$30.

M1 Carbine:
To blank adapt a Carbine you have to drill and tap the barrel which can forever mess with the accuracy of the barrel. Also, you have to make sure to remove the bayonet lug (none existed that war until the last few months of the war, and change out the rear sight and safety. We can help you with most of that is you so wish.

1911A1 .45 pistol:
If you buy a junker barrel, we can help you drill and tap the barrel and dremil parts of the barrel to make it work with blanks sold by "The Blanks Guy", but not Swansons.

On all of the above items I went with cheapest good quality items. As we all know, WWII Impressions makes the best stuff in most cases. Not everyone can afford to buy from them because with great quality, you get a higher price. What Price Glory makes a multitude wonderful items that are excellent also. On some things like Cartridge belts the quality is not real good. So, if you can afford it, get WWII Impressions stuff because you will likely only have to buy it once. Some of the lower end stuff is ok, but wears out faster and eventually will need to be replaced. Sometimes it's cheaper in the longrun to buy the best expensive stuff from WWII Impressions because you will be unlikely to have to replace it in the furture (except for uniforms which will wear out from use over time).

We also need an ebay primer.

For example the cartridge belts on ebay are a lot cheaper

Yes but you also do not know if some of the repros sold on e-bay are junky ones, and you should get the Khaki shaded one as opposed to the dark OD one as the darker one was a late war or even Korean War item. 8)

Mike - you're right, every purchase that anyone wants to make not on the "buy list" vendors should have the picture and ebay reference posted for a "price/item check on isle 5"

I remember back that someone posted a "Do's and Don'ts" with ebay in dealing with WWII reenactor stuff. Just the basics of bidding and being patience, and "watch phrases" that people post to dress up their items. And as you pointed out sometimes this stuff is repro stuff being resold, by former reenactors or the vendors themselves.

Very well said Mayo. Furthermore, we can fit you in house, let you see what else we have in stock, and offer you a cup of coffee. Now what Ebay auction can do that! :-)
