(The bottom two helmets are post war shells which may or may not be allowed depending on the results of the January meeting.)

(He is not making helmets again yet, but will in the near future.)

These three are the best vendors of WWII helmets around. They average in price from $165 to $200 plus depending on which helmet you choose.

Looking at TOPPOTs and what people have posted-A big problem is how helmets are described.
If the only helmets in doubt are the 60's run how can people ID those helmets?
And if I find one I will buy it since there are far less of them then the 40's-50's run.
Also the liners will have to be ID'd.

Fixed bails were changed out during the war since they broke off the pots, that and the helmets cracking in the rear (I think I have two of those cracked pots  )

The Big Two Helmet places are now over $200 for one of their Helmets. In my opinion new people would be better off, looking at ebay. I got a beautiful Helmet for $70, Helmet and Liner. This Helmet had an airborne liner, which would normally be more money. Either way a new guy can easily find a great Helmet for under $100 on ebay. Plus there are plenty of us who have extra Helmets. The bottomline is, you don't need to spend $200+ on a Helmet.

OR you can always ask our unit leader Tim, who will gladly sell helmets for cheaper :)

Yup, considerably cheaper. Check the link out.

I also have one front seam airborne helmet with liner for $100. Brand new repo liner, I think I used it a couple times for living history events. I would suggest refinishing the shell, I tried to put a cork finish on it but it looks horrible. Strip that off and use a technique with textured spray paint and it will look 100 times better. I would do it but I have two more AB helmets already and don't particularly want to strip off the layers of paint I put on the old one trying to make it look better.
