This event is coming up next month.

Sound up and off - if you have some interest in going. Like any event, sometimes you're desire to go is base on how many people are going and who. Everyone waits, waiting to see. So post here if you have some interest in going, so we can get a sense of interest.

Also at this point, registration is coming to an end quickly, so if you would like to attend, it will be with organizations and units who have alreayd reserved a spot. What you can do is be a "walk-on", but this requires registrations and a $5 fee.

Walk on's are discouraged at this event. Last year there was an individual that came into the event and was firing down into the Japanese encampment. He terrified some of the public and because of this there will be a tight restriction on people showing up who are not attached to existing units.

I probably used at bad term. For this event, there are those who are diehards, who go every year. Also Living History events involve a little more set-up and planning they just showing up for a tactical event. So if you want to go, you could show up the day of the event, but need to have the proper papers, and as Tim said a definite place to go to.

Here are some pictures for the past weekend's Old Fort MacArthur Days. You see a few pictures of the 82nd Airborne unit, that Joel also belongs to, a bunch of guys from Tim's Japanese unit, and a few guys doing Korean War from our old unit.

Good stuff... Heck I probaly would have went just to look at the other displays... Roman Legionnaire has always had my fancy. But alas not time/money.

The only thing that gets me is the morning colors and this is kinda FYI for future use:

Honors (i.e. saluting) to the Colors (and officers) while in formation are (and have been since the drill manuals were written):

1. Unit called to attention
2. Commanding Officer (or whoever happens to be out there, Sgt, Pfc, Lt, Capt) of unit about faces and salutes.

The whole unit never salutes, the only time all of you do is when you are a gaggle standing around, then its fine.

Sorry but thats some basic soldiering that should be known and improperly rendered honors irk me because it is considered disrespect.
