Finally a quote on DI's!

Discussions related to WWII and Reenacting

Just got the invoice today for the 442nd DI's. Cost to us per piece is $6 each. So a set of 3 will be $18. I was told they should come sometime in 3-4 weeks.

I don't want to take any orders for these until I have them. Total cost of the project so far was $600 for 100 pins. Naturally if you get more than that the per unit cost would be less.

I plan on selling some on eBay at $20 a pair. $6 cost each is only for our unit members.

The 442nd DI's are here!

Well, 3-4 weeks became two months! But the DI's finally arrived. Bad news is I'm trying to send them back now. They came out really nice BUT... the red was way off. It was just a little to much on the orangish side.

It's not perfect. The original had a glazed opaque look to it and this looks simply like an enamel paint was applied. But even that would be somewhat acceptable if the shade of red wasn't so far off.

Will see how this comes out. It might be ok for reenactment purposes, but I would like it to look more like an authentic pin.
