For the basic gear the place you referred to is fine. The Big-Three are safe.

At the Front (ATF)
You can save money and hold off on getting an overcoat. Check our unit's "handy guide" on items, prices, and the suggested vendor for each item. These lists also include the link to the vendor, and also the link to the ebay equilvent.

Dave the place he referred to is WPG.
Most important:
Service Shoes, Reverse Upper. These enable you to be very very flexible and just about cover the entire war (approx. a '42-'45 time period). These are also the number one thing we can't loan out. One, Boots are something no one always has lots of extra of. Two, having your own pair that are broken in to your feet is for the best. Chances are borrowing will give you maybe a decent fit, but not to your foot, this can result in blisters and chaffing. Three, very much preferred that you use your own pair. I take care of my feet and boots/shoes but still, if I were you wearing someone else's shoes is a little scary.
Wools like you see there are probably the next best thing to get. If we all have to wear wools at an event, chances are we won't have very many extras. I think Randy has some WPG wools but don't quote me. Regardless I haven't heard any warnings to steer clear and I like their other repros. Get them in a size that fits, but not tight. My shirt is a tad too large and it can be noticeable since they didn't wear shirt stays to keep it tugged into your trousers, and I have lots of extra fabric. If I were going somewhere in a wool shirt it wouldn't look too good. Trousers is trousers so nothing special there.
Part of the early combat uniform at the time was the wools with a
M41 Field Jacket. Very necessary for the combat impression and personally I think they are pretty cool looking, specially when you get a Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) for the division you portray and rank insignia on them. I'm only ATF happy because they are great quality for the best price. I own WW2 Impressions Roughouts and wools and like those well (their shoes are primo btw).
A helmet is another item. If our unit Leader still has extras from when he'd assemble a bunch for new guys in our unit. He would probably lend you one if you came out with us, and would have it for sale for a good price. If not the cheapest place to get one is... you guessed it... ATF. Lawdog does some awesome work from what I've seen but its pricey. J. Murray has a decent deal on rear seam, swivel bales for $145. ATF also has a front seam, swivel bale for $170 if you want to be a purist.
At this point a few minor things and you've got a real basic impression. You still need field gear, but in our unit we have plenty of field gear that can be loaned, and will give you some time to pick up the items you need. A cartridge belt would be first for obvious reasons.
Now you need to own/borrow a rifle and you are field ready.
