I'll be the first to say... INFORMATION OVERLOAD!

Edit: Looking at a few pictures, the GI Collector's and repros... I think the helmet net Tim gave me isn't a late war at all, it swaaay too spaced out. In fact methinks its a British one, just green. Regardless I guess its not what I thought it was.

Most of our issued helmet nets in the ETO came from the British till late in the war.

Thats what I figured, or they copied and cut it from the real thing. I've been looking for a nice chunk of cargo net made from natural fibers so I can cut it up into helmet nets, run a string or even a bootlace through the "bottom", TA-DA! Ersatz helmet net...

You can get cargo netting cheap from craft stores, but it's not correct. The right one will have each string knotted like the green on I gave you. Decorative cargo netting today is made by machine and doesn't have those knots. Nitpickers will go crazy over that stuff.

If you guys can make it, great. If not then don't worry to much, it is a hobby after all. We all have real lives we have to contend with.

So far with all the guys who are tenative coming to this event, we will have 17 men. The big tent cannot handle that many guys. If you have shelter hlaves, please bring them. I have two sets that I will bring in addition to the big tent. We will set up all the tentage together as a team. We can even put more than two shelter halves together to make a bigger tent. We can also connect the shelter halves to the squad tent and make one big tent with a bunch smaller ones connected to it. We can of course, also just set up the tents in a row in front of the big tent.

I can make room for whoever need it... I got a patrol bag and bivvie sack and I can bring along my ground mat. So that makes room for guys to get in the tents...

And don't try and convince me otherwise Mike. I survived weeks in pendleton with only a poncho liner and 3 other MArines in our fighting hole trying to stay warm in January, and slept in my bag/bivvie during the field part of boot.. in the cold... I'll survive this :D

No non-period items are allowed outside of the tents except for when cooking, unloading, and loading vehicles. 8)

Another thing about M43 uniforms. These were designed as cold weather uniforms, wools were usually suppose to worn underneath. M43's don't breathe like wools do.

It's probably going to be pretty hot up there during the day and cold at night. I would recommend M43's at night but you may want to shed down to wools or HBT's during the battle unless it's going to cloudy this weekend. If you have them I would bring both and wear for comfort. We don't need any heat stroke casualties out there.
