Ok, it's down to the wire and I am officially going nuts.
Check in time at the barracks is 1pm Friday, the 5th. I will be trying my best to get there very early and have everything signed out and ready for the barracks and for the field. We probably won't have made arrangments for the encampments till later that day. Hopefully there will be plenty of signage to direct you to the barracks. Just like at Camp Roberts each unit will be responsible for cleaning their squad bays by the end of Sunday.
Battle fee is $20, a map of Camp SLO is on the CHG website.
Everyone, including those camping out must be at the line up on Saturday 9am! This is a mandatory! Check with your unit leaders for location. Unit leaders, be sure to check with myself or Woody for the location of the line up. Be sure you bring plenty of water, there is no water out in the field. I recommend a full canteen and a small water bottle in your haversacks or packs. Bring something to lunch on out in the field.
Don't forget sunscreen. Matt will be selling blanks.
Expect to follow the same procedures as at Camp Roberts. I will not be able to get this confirmed till I check in myself, but if you are not familar with the rules, at Camp Roberts before we can enter the gate we have to check in at the Provost Marshalls office and check in our weapons. You CANNOT enter the base without a picture ID.
There are no mess facilities for our use so bring your own food. For the Japanese we are planning to cook Ramen for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. We will be going into town Saturday night for dinner. Possibly Friday night as well although I myself pretty much expect to be going mental by that time.
Woody is our unit leader and will be the overall Axis Commander. Jacob Caputo of the Australians will be the overall Allied Commander.
At this time I fully expect 25-30 Japanese, 20 Australians, unknown number of Marines and US Army. However from the various RPS/CHG units I have been contacted by I would not be surprised to see the US forces numbering around 40-60.
Squad bays in the barracks should be separated by nationality and/or units. There will be one separate for the women. As we do at Camp Roberts, bring a blanket, pillow and sheets if you want them. The bunks will probably not have anything other than a matteress and cover on it if that much.
I will try to have a scan of the map for the location of the barracks by tomorrow. Email me for a copy if want it at
kanowarrior@yahoo.com. However, I will not be entirely sure that is the barracks we will draw when I sign out for it. There should be signage directing you to the barracks and probably some very obvious signs you have the right place. (did somebody say flags? )
