Since there are some "jeeps" coming into the unit, here are some books. One book Tim gave to Fernie at the Gun Show

This book is very interesting but not the format I was looking for. It gives great tips. What the book contains is mostly reprints of various articles from the Military Vehicle Collectors Club Army Motors magazine. I used to get these magazines when I was in the MVCC. I wish I had kept them but my friend did and he gave them to me on a semi-permanent loan basis. They contain information on all kinds of vehicles from bicycles to tanks and trucks. Things you can't normally find like serial number lists and proper period markings (specs for vehicles markings changed at least 3 to 4 times during the war). The book Dave linked to only has the articles that pertain to WWII jeeps.

This is also one of a three book series but I was told that each sequential book would basically be a reprint with more material added so if you get the latest book you get the best of the series and prior books aren't really needed.

The best thing to buy if you want to restore and work on a WWII jeep is the three tech manuals that pertain to WWII jeeps. These come reprinted in a single volume that cost around $40 or so. You can easily find those books on Amazon.com. The book I gave Fernie is a terrific supplement to the tech manuals in that they give tips and facts not found in tech manuals. The articles there were written by other collectors from research done by them or experience they learned working on their own vehicles. Combined with the tech manuals this book is invaluable.

I have not gotten my copy of the tech manuals yet, but I did order it a couple weeks ago. It should be arriving soon. This is a link to the tech manual reprints.

This link is another good source. This is a CD-rom with the same tech manuals on it but also later post war jeeps, M-151's and Humvees on it. The beauty of this on CD is you can find the pages you need, print it and use the print on while working on your vehicle. No need to worry about getting oil on it or ripping it up, just print out another page.
