I've seen lots of pictures of vehicle in the ETO in the motor pool getting refitted and painted. Most of the time they used an air compressor and paint gun. But the interesting thing is those guys always had the most BORED looks on their faces and they painted EVERYTHING. They often didn't bother prepping the vehicle so if it was caked with mud, they painted over the mud. If somebody left a mussette bag hanging on it or something they painted right over that.
I'm guessing when they drew that duty a sargeant would point at 20-30 vehicles and tell somebody they had until chow time or they didn't eat.
