Right off the bat I can tell you without looking at the pictures that the description is a CJ2, not a military jeep. It's the closest thing to a WWII jeep but has differences and for $5,000 you are better off spending the money looking for the real thing. By the time you spend money trying to fix the stuff that is wrong with it (assuming the typical things have not been fixed) you will have spent more than enough to buy a restored jeep. I've known a few reenactors who bought CJ's and used them at battles and all of them regretted it when they realized what they could have gotten for the same money or a little more.
$5,000 is about the price you will pay for a WWII jeep in good condition with some restoration work needed. I just found one on eBay that is at $4,000. The guy listed it with the civilian jeeps and didn't list it as a military jeep so the price isn't getting jacked up like WWII ones usually do. Plus right now the WWII jeeps have slumped down in price on eBay as they typically do. There is one for just under $4,000 that is pretty nice and one for $6,000 that seems pretty complete except somebody cut a panel out the back. Of course usually on eBay you have to pay to have the vehicle shipped to your place.
The jeep I just bought is in Idaho and I just made arrangements to have it shipped to Fernies house. It is going to cost me an additional $950 (including driver's tip) to do this. Not bad.
