Littlefield Tank Collection

Postby davep on Sat Apr 19, 2008 11:16 am

Jacques Littlefield one of only three individuals who collect and restore 100's of tanks. He has a very nice collection, including a nice Panther Tank, which was featured on "Tank Restorations" on the Military Channel

His private collection/museum is available for public tours. A great idea for us and others to go up and visit during the summer.

You know I've had a couple offers from different people to get in to view his collection. Perhaps we could do it as a unit thing. Anyone up for that? Remember it's way up by San Francisco.

It's just south of San Francisco; it's in Portola Valley

And I would certainty up for the tour. Jacques and his crew is very very knowledgable, and his collection is truely amazing. It would be a great trip for all!

I would like to see it. But, I am sure the wife and daughter would want to go to. They like to travel and go on road trips. 8)

Here is summary information, from a thread in the Fine Scale Modeler forum:

The Littlefield Collection is open for group tours on Saturdays with the times generally being 10am and 1pm. Weekday times are not available as there is generally nobody available to provide tours. The tours are scheduled by contacting Mr. Littlefield thru his website:

Littlefield Tank Collection

Since he is the only one who answers the emails to the site, responses can be haphazard at best. Generally, there are no more than two tours scheduled per time slot with a preferred group size of no more than 25-30 people. There are no facilities at the collection other than a couple of bathrooms. It is not geared for kids as there is really nothing for them to do there. Individuals who want to visit the collection are added to the tours if space is available. The tours are free of charge.

Count me in. I'm an old ex tracked vehicle mechanic from the '60's. I've been trying to contact Jacques through his email address with no luck. I'm about 30 miles from Portola Valley. I was stationed in Germany from '65 to '68 with an armored unit. I see from photos that he has an M88VTR and an M60.
