Therefore, is exempt from the .50bmg ban, which specifically states any longarm capable chambering and firing .50BMG.
How sure of that are you? From what I'm told they made the caliber illegal as well. I can't find a single gun store owner who will get one for me. I'd still like to get one if it's possible, but without getting anyone to accept or sell me one I'm still dead in the water on that issue.
Ok, I just checked on the net, found the law and discovered the law does in fact seem to exclude M2's from the ban. However it goes on to ban the caliber. Then I found mention that the caliber part was dropped in the final bill, but if you go back to the TNW website with the people who make semi-auto .50 cals
http://www.tnwfirearms.com/guns_m2hb.shtml
They specifically state:
This firearm will shoot semi-auto only and cannot be converted to full-auto. This firearm is
BATF approved and may be legally owned in all 49 states...not in "The People's Republic of Arnold".
So we are left with a Catch-22 situation here. According to the law,
MAYBE the weapon is legal.
MAYBE the caliber is legal. But the real catcher here is if you can't get the manufacturer's to sell you one the entire thing becomes a moot point.
Now add to that 'assault weapon .50 cals' were required to be registered by 2006 at the latest without exception. True, the M2
MIGHT not fall under this law, but if it does then you can't legally own on in this state anyway.
So with all those MIGHT's and MAYBE's you would be taking a huge chance if there was any possible way to get this thing into this state. I'll make a few more phone calls about it but this is possibly a far bigger risk than it's worth.
We are stuck with a gas gun guys.
