Repop A1 foldy stock on it, but that's not the strange part

The reciever is marked Underwood GHD

nothing else, no serial number just an inspector's mark

You don't give much information to go on. Underwood is a well known WWII manufacturer of carbines, GHD was usually stamped on the stock and was a Colonel's initials. The lack of a serial number is very suspect though, I would stay away from it.

No marks on the barrel? Should be a maker and year stamped below the front sight.

barrel is marked 44 underwood

I saw your pictures, that is a military barrel with the ordinance stamp on it. I would really worry about that missing serial number though.
