My Grandpa's Wartime Documents

Postby kombatkarl on Sat Mar 29, 2008 9:59 pm

I have a box of stuff that I found of all my Grandpa's old stuff, paperwork and the like he got from fighting with the 104th ID.

There is some neat stuff in here i will be posting over time.

This first one is a humorous letter he and his unit got, citing "indoctrination for Return to the United States." Check out the date on the paper! Dec. 44 and they thought the war was over!

That's hilarious! It's amazing you still have that after all these years. Most people would have tossed something like that long ago since it was just tounge in cheek.

It's so interesting to read the small details of a soldiers life. All too often people focus on details of WW2 that the average soldier in the field would never know, only historians. These simple details most of the time are overlooked.

Nice find

Yeah 12 Dec '44 I can't get over that...

If you can fix up the "Wolfpack Tours Europe" fold out you should put that up next, thats hilarious too.
